Started in 1932 as an Army &
Navy surplus store in
Brattleboro, Vermont, SAM'S was
and is, today still, a family
owned business in its third
generation. The business has
thrived and expanded to a total
of 3 Department Stores in
operation today. The other 2
stores are in Keene, NH and
Hadley, MA.
In the beginning, it was a
matter of supplying customers
with work clothes which
originated from the Army & Navy
surpluses after WW1, and then
later after WW2 and the Korean
War. SAM'S Outdoor Outfitters
today has one of New England's
most comprehensive inventories
of quality brand names, spanning
from Clothing for the whole
family, Footwear including
casual, athletic, hiking and
specialized boots, and Sporting
Goods encompassing a wide
variety of sports equipment and
gear with which one can enjoy
our great outdoors to the
